Those days they were called Karnataka Electricity Board or KEB which later got split into two companies KPTCL (Karnataka Power Transmit Corporation Limited) and BESCOM (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company). There use to be a queue-ue-ue-ue in front of one of the windows of a big room building. That will be on the other side of the main entrance. I remember I use to stand there for about 45 min to 1 hour before my turns comes. Knowing that the guy at the counter will not return the change, I use to carry the exact change.
There was another case, once I remember that my mother gave a cheque for self withdrawal and I carried that cheque all the way to fifth main road Canara Bank (or syndicate bank not sure) which is about 2 KM from home only to return back to tell my mom that her signature is not matching with the recorded one.
It was in 2000 when I joined WIPRO and opened an salary account in CITIBANK that I got used to this online transactions. It is so cool on a click of button you are done with your payment or by stepping into an ATM counter you have your case. I once did a monthly shopping to my home while I was in USA from fabmall.com where I purchased from tooth brush to shampoo...
These day except for some Home Loan realted work, I don't step in to any Banks. it is so cool to do the online tranaaction.
